About us

Francesca Antonacci comes from an old-established family of antique dealers who have been doing business in Rome since 1916.

She ran the family's celebrated gallery based both in Rome and in London for many years, specialising in furniture, objets d'art and European painting of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Francesca's own gallery, which she opened in a historic courtyard oozing with character situated at no. 54 Via Margutta in Rome in 2003, has become a benchmark for lovers of fine Italian and European painting, drawing, sculpture and objets d'art of the late 18th to mid-19th centuries, focusing in particular on vedutismo and the artists of the Grand Tour.

The gallery holds exhibitions devoted to artists of this period as well as to the work of early 20th century artists, publishing catalogues based on meticulous in-depth research and scholarship.

The gallery's client base includes national and international museums and collectors. It also offers its clientele estimates and expertise for insurance purposes; assistance in purchases or sales; consultancy on the appropriate setting for displaying works of art and items of furniture or interior decoration; art historical scholarship; assistance with applications for export permits, and assistance in wading through red tape in general.

The gallery attends all of the major Italian and international fairs including the TEFAF in Maastricht, the Salon du Dessin in Paris, the Biennale dell'Antiquariato in Palazzo Corsini in Florence, the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris, Fine Art Paris in Paris and the Biennale dell'Antiquariato in Palazzo Venezia in Rome (having become a member of the latter's Executive Committee in 2014).
Francesca is a member of the board of the Associazione Antiquari d’Italia, the Italian Antique Dealers’ Association.

From 2012 Francesca Antonacci founded ALFineArt. Visit www.antonaccilapiccirellafineart.com to see the collection
